The matchup has thrilled fans for generations and has created long-lasting memories for the student-athletes of East LA’s Garfield High School and Boyle Heights’ Theodore Roosevelt High School and their families.
This year, the two teams bring the game back home, facing off at East LA College for a chance to claim the historic trophy.
The Classic draws thousands of football fans from across the Eastside and beyond, and this year will be no different.
While the commute to East LA College won’t involve multiple onramps and interchanges like last year’s Inglewood edition, there are details you may want to consider before heading to the big game.
Here’s everything you need to know.
When and where is the game?
This year’s showdown will be at East Los Angeles College’s Weingart Stadium. Doors open at 2:30 p.m. The junior varsity game begins at 3:15 p.m., followed by the flag football game at 5:45 p.m. Kickoff for the varsity game is scheduled for 7:45 p.m.
How can I purchase tickets?
Tickets will not be sold at either campus this year and will only be available online. General admission tickets are $22, including fees, but current students of either school can secure tickets for just $16.75, fees included.
At the door, all tickets will be $25. Children 4 and under are free.
Is there parking available?
Yes. Parking on site will be $25 per car.
What can I bring inside the stadium?
There is a clear-bag policy no larger than 12″x 12″x 6″ in place at Weingart Stadium. Non-clear clutch bags no larger than 5″x 8″x 2″ are permitted and subject to search. No pets, outside food or drinks, camera bags, diaper bags, backpacks or large purses will be allowed past the gate.
Other prohibited items include alcohol, illegal substances, knives and other weapons, fireworks and glass containers.
Where do the teams stand?
Roosevelt’s varsity football team has a 4-4 record this season after winning its last two consecutive games this fall. Garfield’s varsity Bulldogs have been stronger this season after winning six of the last eight games. Their running back, Ceasar Reyes, recently broke a school record.
Last year, Garfield took the title in a thrilling, 38-28 victory over the Rough Riders at SoFi Stadium. Roosevelt last claimed the trophy in 2021.
