Welcome to another edition of the Happenings in the Heights newsletter, your guide to weekend events in and around Boyle Heights and L.A.’s Eastside.

If you attended CicLAvia last week and didn’t get enough car-free streets, you’re in luck. A stretch of 1st Street, Boyle Avenue and the 6th Street Bridge will be closed to make way for runners, joggers and walkers of all skill levels for the annual Boyle Heights 5K Run/Munchkin Run & Classic Car Show Festival Saturday morning.

If running isn’t your style, enjoy the classic car show at the finish line.

Or if you’re looking for an opportunity to flaunt the Halloween costume you’ve been working on all year, stop by Don Quixote on Friday for their Cholo Goth Night costume party.

Along with live music and an opportunity to sing your favorite norteñas, here’s everything else we found for you this weekend.
