The Boyle Heights Wolfpack captured its program’s first youth football conference title Saturday with a win over the Glendora Tartans.

Aidan Davila scored two touchdowns and added the extra point to beat Glendora 13-12.

The team, made up of 11-year-olds, competed in the Jr. Peewee Division of the San Gabriel Valley Junior All-American Football Conference at La Puente High School.

Founded in 1988, the Boyle Heights Wolfpack program is a nonprofit organization that helps the children of Boyle Heights learn the fundamentals of sports, leadership, and teamwork. The program, which includes both football and cheer, is considered a rite of passage for many young athletes in Boyle Heights.

Many who start with the Wolfpack go on to play football for Roosevelt or Garfield in the East LA Classic, continuing a longstanding tradition of community and Eastside pride.
