¡Hola Boyle Heights! Andrew Lopez here.
Have your plans set for this Labor Day weekend? If you don’t, we’ve got you.
It’s your last chance to board the beach bus from East L.A. to the ocean. A round-trip costs $2 and takes you from City Terrace Park to Santa Monica Beach.
This weekend also marks the 55th anniversary of the Chicano Moratorium and you can celebrate the historic event by marching with local groups or enjoying food and music at Ruben Salazar Park. If theater is your thing, you’ve got a few plays to choose from, including one about the late Dodgers pitcher and cultural icon, Fernando Valenzuela.
Last, if you’re looking to be more civically engaged – and get paid to do it – register for the L.A. Documenters’ virtual orientation before it begins later this afternoon.
Here’s what we found for you to do across the Eastside this weekend.
