The Summer Youth Institute (YI) program at the Weingart East Los Angeles YMCA will celebrate their culmination with a film festival this Saturday at Garfield High School in East Los Angeles.

Students participated in an eight-week production camp that engaged them in graphic design and video production. YI participants researched, wrote and designed an article layout for publication in the YI Magazine and worked in production teams to create short films on topics such as healthcare, the Local Control Funding Formula, education, and access to healthy food.

This weekend’s Film Festival will include a red carpet press event, lunch and the presentation of the short films and graduation ceremony.

Film Festival: 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.
