A young man who confronted taggers was shot and killed Sunday night near the Pueblo del Sol apartments in what police are describing as a possible gang related incident. 

An LAPD spokesman says that shortly after 8:30 p.m. officers responded to a call of a single victim shooting near 1st and Gless Streets in Boyle Heights. Later that evening, Captain Martín Baeza of the Hollenbeck Division posted a message on Twitter about the investigation:

Officer Drake Madison of LAPD Media Relations said the victim, a 26-year-old male, was transported to a local hospital where he died from his injuries. In a follow-up Tweet, Baeza said the shooting suspects were two taggers writing graffiti in the area:

The Eastsider is reporting that the young man was killed after confronting the taggers.

Madison said the suspects fled on foot. Anyone with information is asked to call the Hollenbeck Detective desk at (323) 342-8900.
