A woman was looking for her lost pet when she was run over Thursday night by an 18-wheeler truck in an apparent hit and run accident in an industrial zone in the Southeastern edge of Boyle Heights.

ABC 7 reports that Cynthia Szukala, 69, was outside of her motorhome near Pacific Avenue and Calzona Street when she was looking for her cats. The woman was crushed by the big rig truck’s tires and the driver did not stop. City News Service writes that authorities were investigating whether the driver knew the truck ad run someone over or not.

Szukala’s daughter, Aileen Kemper tells ABC 7 that she forgives the driver and wants that person to surrender themselves to “come clean,” and give her family “some peace.” Anyone with information on the incident is encouraged to contact the authorities.
