Community members are invited to celebrate the fourth anniversary of The Wellness Center at the Historic General Hospital on Saturday, March 17, with a day of free educational sessions and health services.

The celebration, from 11 am to 2 pm, will include free lunch and fun activities such as fitness classes, healthy cooking demonstrations, children’s art activities, giveaways, live music and much more.

A resource fair will be provided by the service organizations housed on-site, including Alma Family Services, Maternal and Child Health Access, East Los Angeles Women’s Center, L.A. Care Health Plan, the Weingart East Los Angeles YMCA and many others.

The Wellness Center is an  innovative one-stop destination for health and well-being. Its vision is to provide bilingual and culturally sensitive programs that empower residents to take control of their health and combat chronic diseases.

Located together inside the former Los Angeles County Hospital, 23 non-profit organizations provide free services that include health insurance enrollment, legal support, and resource referrals for low income, undocumented and homeless area residents.

The Wellness Center is a program of the LAC+USC Medical Center Foundation supported by the County of Los Angeles, Supervisor Hilda L. Solis, The California Endowment, LA Care Health Plan and public and private funders.

The Wellness Center at the Historic General Hospital is at 1200 N. State St.
