Boyle Heights residents and stakeholders came out to cast their votes on Saturday and elect their newest neighborhood council representatives.
A total of 248 voters filled out ballots Saturday. An additional 16 ballots were submitted by mail.
Community members decided on three area seats, 14 community in the Boyle Heights Neighborhood Council election at the Boyle Heights City Hall.
Marisol Sanchez took the Area 1 seat against opponent Rolando Cruz, while Rita Govea Rodriguez beat opponent Renee M. G. Chavez in the Area 2 contest.
Luz Maria Montoya-Ruiz ran unopposed for Area 4. No candidate ran for Area 3, a seat that will be filled with the future elected board.
Community seat winners were Fanny Ortiz, Mynor Godoy, Azul Amaral, Margarita Amador, Steven Cesar Almazan, Erika Trevis, Carlos Montes, Diana Del Pozo-Mora, Nicole D. Martin, Amanda Desiree Mejia, Rafael C. Chagoya, Joe Diaz, Vera Del Pozo and Phillip J. Del Pozo.
