Starting next month Roosevelt High students lining up for lunch at the school cafeteria will be able to order off a vegan menu as part of a pilot program at seven campuses.

The vegan menu will feature such items as chili with tortilla chips, bean tamales, sausage subs, teriyaki patty sandwiches and Hungry Planet’s burgers. The cafeterias will continue to serve regular items as well.

The cafeteria at Roosevelt will serve up the vegan menu from Sept. 5 through Nov. 17. Student responses and suggestions during the pilot period will be used to guide the district as it expands the menu to other schools.
