If anyone knows love knows no age it’s the members of the Ramona Gardens seniors club.

At their weekly meeting this Wednesday, the mostly female members of the club worked on Valentines Day crafts –gift bags that they painted to later fill with heart-shaped boxes of chocolates and other sweets for their loved ones.

Afterwards, the seniors enjoyed a delicious hot lunch, followed by a special Valentines Day cake.

In a 2014 story, BHB profiled the Ramona Gardens seniors club as a place longtime residents of the public housing community make friends and learn skills.

The seniors club also influence change in their community. In 2014, they were able to convince Councilman José Huízar to fund the restoration of a beloved mural of the Virgin of Guadalupe in Ramona Gardens.
