Uber is looking to sign up more Spanish-speaking drivers and hosted a recruiting event on Tuesday in East Los Angeles to do that. It’s for uberESPANOL, the Spanish version of the ride sharing service. ABC Los Angeles reports community leaders and local officials teamed up with Uber to bring the event to East Los Angeles.
Customers can get a Spanish-speaking Uber driver by requesting one under the UberX category. But one Uber driver tells ABC that the wait for uberESPANOL could be anywhere from 15 to 20 minutes.
Uber wants to hire 12,000 new drivers this year. uberESPANOL launched May 19 in Los Angeles and 5 other cities.
