A man was shot several times in Boyle Heights Monday morning and police are asking for the public’s help in finding the suspect.

According to various news reports, the shooting happened at about 7 a.m. near the corner of Eighth and Fresno streets in Boyle Heights. Police say witnesses heard six shots coming from a black Honda in the area.

Police found the victim next to his vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds. The man, identified as José Fernando Arellano, of Bloomington, died at the scene. Apparently he was visiting a friend in the neighborhood.

Some neighbors and area residents posted photographs and videos that showed the victim’s body covered by a blanket.

Police say the shooting does not appear to be gang-related. No arrests have been made on the case.

Another man was killed Wednesday when he was crossing the street and hit by a vehicle.

According to City News Service, the victim was crossing the street in a crosswalk at Olympic Boulevard and Orme Avenue when he was struck. The 61-year-old man was identified as Ramón Guerrero of Los Angeles. He died at a hospital.

The driver of the vehicle, who remained at the scene, was interviewed by police but not detained.
