Two on-duty Los Angeles Police Department officers were injured early Thursday morning when their patrol SUV hit a tree on East Cesar Chavez Avenue in Boyle Heights.

The cruiser also hit two parked cars before stopping at the tree. The crash happened shortly before 5 a.m. according to authorities.

According to the Eastsider LA, an LAPD spokesperson says the officers weren’t involved in a pursuit before the incident.

The cause of the crash is unknown and is currently under investigation.
