Caution tape

Police took a man believed to have a gun into custody after a six hour long standoff in a Boyle Heights apartment. A section of South Lorena Street between Hunter Street and East Olympic Boulevard was cordoned off late Thursday night and early Friday morning as police and SWAT officers tried to talk the suspect out of his barricade. KTLA reports that officers saw two men standing outside of an apartment complex in the area. One man appeared to have a handgun and an officer approached him. The two men ran and that’s when officers pursued.

They held themselves up in the apartment building and SWAT officers were called in response. One of the men came out and was taken into custody without incident after a six hour long standoff. There was no word on a second man taken in or if the man apprehended was the suspect that officers first identified on the street believed to have a gun, KTLA writes.
