A community vigil is expected to take place Sunday evening in memory of Fred Barragán, a 36-year-old Boyle Heights man killed in an officer-involved shooting near the Gold Line Soto station in the early hours of Saturday.

According to a Facebook event page, the “Emergency Rally & Vigil” will take place from 5 to 7 pm.

The LAPD is investigating the shooting. According to published reports, officers patrolling the area heard gunshots coming from East 1st and Breed Streets. Police say officers moving West on 1st saw the man running and ordered him to stop when the officer-involved shooting occurred.
