Alzheimer’s Greatest Los Angeles will hold its Walk4Alz event on Saturday, March 25, in East Los Angeles, to raise funds and awareness about a disease that affects Latino families disproportionately.

The walk will take place at the East Los Angeles Civic Center, 4801 East 3rd Street. Registration starts at 7 and the walk starts at 9 a.m. Participants are encouraged to raise funds for the nonprofit organization –whoever raises $50 or more gets a T-shirt.

It is free to participate but walkers need to register. They may register online a or at the day of the event.

Alzheimer’s Greatest Los Angeles provides services to patients and their families, including counseling and a 24/7 helpline (844-HELP-ALZ). One of the organization’s five service centers is in East Los Angeles.

According to a study published last year, the number of U.S. Latinos living with Alzheimer’s disease will grow to 1.1 million by the year 2030.
