Nearly 10,000 kids received toys this past Saturday as part of the 33rd annual “Miracle on 1st Street” Christmas Toy Giveaway at the Hollenbeck Youth Center in Boyle Heights.
Each year, families begin lining up as early as Friday to better their chances at receiving toys like sports equipment and musical instruments when the Youth Center opens Saturday morning.
Actor Tom Arnold and former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger hosted the event along with Daniel Hernandez, president of Hollenbeck Youth Center and founder of “Miracle on 1st Street.”
The event is organized each year by the Inner City Games Los Angeles, the Hollenbeck Police Business Council and the Hollenbeck Youth Center.
