It took 36 firefighters 14 minutes to douse a small fire reported Tuesday night at the Los Angeles County Crematory and Cemetery in Boyle Heights.

According to a Twitter post by the Los Angeles Fire Department, a cremation was in process when a small fire began around one of the cremation ovens.

No injuries were reported during the incident at the crematory, which is on the grounds of Evergreen Cemetery.

Operated on a nearly 4-acre plot near the corner of Lorena and 1st Streets, the county cemetery holds the ashes of indigent residents who are cremated and buried at public expense.
