
A 10-year-old girl remains in critical condition after undergoing surgery to remove a bullet in her head. The girl was shot near the intersection of South Chicago and Rogers Avenue in Boyle Heights around 6 p.m. Friday.
Someone reportedly opened fire at a person riding a bicycle. The girl, who was walking to the corner store with her sister, was struck by a bullet.
The bullet was partially embedded in the back of the girl’s head and she was rushed to LAC+USC Medical center in critical condition. The intended victim was not hurt.
Authorities are investigating whether the shooting might be gang related. According to KABC news reports, police believe there may have been two cars involved in the shooting: one a dark-colored car and the other a white Chevrolet Impala.
