The LAPD is on the search for a knife-wielding suspect who attacked an off-duty sheriff’s deputy early Friday morning, various media reported.
According to detectives, the unnamed deputy came out of his home on the 3400 block of First Street in Boyle Heights before being assaulted by the suspect. The deputy was treated at the scene for some cuts and scrapes. Authorities aren’t sure what may have provoked the attack.
A wide perimeter was set up by police to search for the suspect, who was described as a Hispanic male in his 20s, wearing a black hoodie and tan shorts. Businesses around the crime scene were closed for hours but were allowed to open up after the perimeter was dismantled around 10:30 AM.
Anyone with more information relating to this case is urged to call the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department or the LAPD.
