Boyle Heights’ Theodore Roosevelt High School campus went on a lockdown Thursday evening, according to school personnel.
Football players, cheerleaders and little league players who were on school grounds were immediately rushed into classrooms and the auditorium for about two hours, students said.
There has been speculation that two teenagers who do not attend Roosevelt were seen on campus with guns, but school and police officials have not confirmed that report.
“The next day at school people were talking about the lockdown, but no one knew what happened,” said a Boyle Heights Beat reporter who is a student at Roosevelt High School.
On Friday the Boyle Heights Beat called Patrick Sinclair, Sr., director of communications and marketing, for the Partnership for Los Angeles Schools, which operates Roosevelt, for comment, as well as a police spokesperson at the Hollenbeck sub-station, but neither institution provided information on the incident.
School administrators took extra precautions Friday and only allowed students or adults involved in after-school programs on campus, students said.
