Police detained a suspected car thief inside Theodore Roosevelt High School’s gymnasium after school today according to Los Angeles Unified School District police officials.
Both Roosevelt High and Hollenbeck Middle School were on lockdown Friday afternoon from about 3 to 3:40 p.m. after the suspect ran into both campuses, according to Patrick Sinclair Sr., director of communications and marketing for the Partnership for Los Angeles Schools, which operates several Boyle Heights schools.
“The suspect ran into the Roosevelt High gymnasium and tried to blend in with the students,” Sinclair said.
A student from Roosevelt notified a teacher and they immediately contacted campus police, he added.
No information was released about the suspect’s identity.
