The Los Angeles Police Department is investigating a shooting that killed one and injured two others early Thursday morning as being gang-related.
Police responded to the reported shooting a few blocks away from Mariachi Plaza around 1:07 a.m.
In a press release posted to Twitter, the LAPD identified a 37-year-old man who died in the shooting as George Castillo. The other two victims were adults but no further information about those two was released. The three victims were standing on the sidewalk in the 1600 block of Pennsylvania Avenue when they were shot.
Castillo was transported to a local hospital where he died. The other two victims remain hospitalized and are expected to recover.
Detectives investigating are searching for an unidentified suspect and encourage anyone with information on the shooting to contact LAPD Hollenbeck Homicide detectives.
