Two Boyle Heights teenagers were reported missing Wednesday and have since been found. The Los Angeles Police Department released a statement asking for the public’s help in finding 15-year old Jaylin Mazariegos and 14-year old Adrian González.
The LAPD said in their statement that the teenagers posted on their Instagram accounts that they wanted to leave Los Angeles. The Los Angeles Times reports they were found around 12:45 a.m. Thursday near the intersection of Martin Luther King Boulevard and Normandie Avenue. The Times writes that the police used bloodhound dogs and helicopters to locate the teens. Boyle Heights residents reported that the helicopter could be seen and heard late Wednesday night. Police were also able to determine their cell phone location.
During the search LAPD Captain Ruby Flores told the LA Times “They’re in love, they are together.” Both teens were described as having purple hair.
As of 3:15 a.m. Thursday morning, the teens were reported to be in good health but were still waiting for a mental health evaluation and were not released to their homes yet.
