This Memorial Day veterans, community members and elected officials met at the All Wars Memorial at Cinco Puntos in Boyle Heights to pay tribute to veterans who have lost their lives fighting for the U.S.

Veterans and their families began standing guard at 10 a.m. Sunday as part of the 68th annual 24-hour Memorial Day vigil. Veterans traded off shifts throughout the day and night.

Those in attendance included Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4696 Tony Zapata Cmdr, Councilmember José Huizar, County Supervisor Hilda Solis, Congressmembers Xavier Becerra and Lucille Roybal Allard, and State Assemblymember Miguel Santiago.

The Cinco Puntos All Wars Memorial is located at 3300 East Cesar Chavez Avenue.
