Authorities are looking for a hammer wielding man who struck an elderly man and a woman in East Los Angeles. ABC reports the attacks occurred on Good Friday (March 25) and the victims were randomly targeted.
An elderly man was attacked without provoking the suspect in the 1400 block of South Bonnie Beach Place. The suspect walked up, hit the elderly man with the hammer, then kicked him on the ground, officials tell ABC.
A second attack had the suspect attack a woman in front of a home in the 4400 block of Triggs Street. He struck the woman in the head several times in the head, knocking her unconscious.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department tells ABC that both victims were sent to the hospital in serious condition.
The suspect is a Hispanic man, 40 to 45 years old, between 5 foot 10 inches and 6 feet tall with a heavy build about 240 pounds. Witnesses last saw him wearing a straw hat, blue windbreaker jacket and black pants.
