A man accused of breaking into a Boyle Heights woman’s home last year and raping her was found guilty.
KTLA reports that 23-year old Manuel Larios Munoz was convicted of forcible rape, forcible oral copulation, sexual penetration by foreign object, and first-degree residential burglary.
Munoz is accused of breaking into the home on Pennsylvania Avenue armed with a machete just after midnight on May 15, 2015. He went on to sexually assault the 30-year old woman who lived there. Munoz is also believed to have tried to rape another woman a month prior to this incident. Munoz could face 96 years to life in prison.
Muñoz was arrested less than two weeks after the crime, the second sexual assault reported near Mariachi Plaza within a month. In April of 2015, a woman fought off an attacker after leaving the Eastside Luv club. That attacker was arrested hours after the assault.
