A high-speed pursuit came to an end in East Los Angeles Wednesday after a man riding a motorcycle led police on a wild chase from Woodland Hills.
LAPD officers began the pursuit around 4:45 p.m., following a man who was driving erratically. The suspect drove over 80 mph, weaving in between cars on the 101 and 60 freeways.
California Highway Patrol officers took over the pursuit that continued onto surface streets in East L.A., where the driver had close calls with pedestrians. The driver, who was wearing a trench coat, drove up to a home near Whittier Blvd and Indiana Street, left the motorcycle and took off on foot.
The chase ended when police spotted the suspect at a nearby Auto Zone and arrested the man wanted for grand-theft auto, reckless driving and failure to yield.
