The Gold Line Little Tokyo/Arts District station will close for three months starting Friday at 9pm to allow for tunnel construction as part of the Regional Connector project, an initiative to connect the Blue, Gold, and Expo lines together. Bus shuttles will replace Gold Line train service between Union Station and Pico/Aliso Station adding up to 15 minutes to commuter’s travel time.
The Little Tokyo station was set to close last year for construction but the closure was postponed once area business owners protested citing the vital role public transportation plays during the holiday shopping season and the new year celebration.
Metro recommends taking local bus line 30 located between Gold Line’s Indiana Station in Boyle Heights and downtown Los Angeles as an alternative. The Little Tokyo station will be closed through March 2016.
