For the music lover:
Stop by the Mariachi Plaza on First Street and Boyle Avenue and hire a Mariachi group to play your dad’s favorite classics.
If you know your dad enjoys boleros or corridos, you can find trios and Norteño bands on the intersection of Cesar Chavez Avenue and Chicago Street outside several of the restaurants they frequent.

For the community supporter:
The Boyle Heights Famers Market will host its original Sunday schedule and activities on Father’s Day at Mariachi Plaza from 3-9pm. They will also host an additional celebration on Friday, June 22nd with live music and homemade mole. Click here for the Facebook page.
For the arts buff:
If so, you can take him to a 5pm showing of “Trio Los Machos” at Casa 0101 Theatre. The play tells the tale of a trio that met during the Bracero guest worker program (1942-1964) between the US and Mexico. Additionally, enjoy the photo exhibit of braceros in the lobby.

For the sports fan:
Consider taking him to Dodger’s Stadium for a game against the Chicago White Sox. There will be a “Viva los Dodgers” pre-game party and free giveaways for dads. Click here for tickets.
For the outdoors enthusiast:
Think about taking your father out to a local park and play a game of soccer, baseball, basketball or football with him. Encourage the family to come out and play and have a picnic at the park.
For the homebody:
You can always stay at home and bring out the grill for a carne asada, just make sure Dad doesn’t have to do any of the grilling””but he might insist.
For the foodie:
If your dad is a food lover but no one wants to cook, there is a plethora of restaurants and street food in Boyle Heights where you can enjoy some fresh and local cuisine.
