Haven’t figured out how to celebrate Father’s Day yet? Look no further”¦

Whether your dad is into sports, the arts, or is simply a homebody, we have some local ideas dads of all kinds can enjoy!

For the music lover:

Stop by the Mariachi Plaza on First Street and Boyle Avenue and hire a Mariachi group to play your dad’s favorite classics.

If you know your dad enjoys boleros or corridos, you can find trios and Norteño bands on the intersection of Cesar Chavez Avenue and Chicago Street outside several of the restaurants they frequent.

*Prices range depending on number of musicians and duration

Or, you can also pick up a record, CD or iTunes gift card for your dad at a music store near you.

For the community supporter:

The Boyle Heights Famers Market will host its original Sunday schedule and activities on Father’s Day at Mariachi Plaza from 3-9pm. They will also host an additional celebration on Friday, June 22nd with live music and homemade mole. Click here for the Facebook page.

If so, you can take him to a 5pm showing of “Trio Los Machos” at Casa 0101 Theatre. The play tells the tale of a trio that met during the Bracero guest worker program (1942-1964) between the US and Mexico. Additionally, enjoy the photo exhibit of braceros in the lobby.
