A fatal gunshot killed a 37-year-old male Hispanic early Monday morning after a heated argument broke out at a home in Boyle Heights.

According to Los Angeles Police Department, the victim, who has not been identified, was at a gathering on the 3200 block of Folsom Street after midnight Monday where he and other guests, including the homeowner, had been drinking heavily.

After the homeowner, 35, showed off a handgun to his guests, he and the victim engaged in a discussion about a marital affair involving his wife, said police.

The homeowner, who police are calling a suspect, attempted to take the weapon back as the gun fired into the man’s eye, killing him.

Witnesses called 911 immediately.

The suspect was taken into custody at Hollenbeck Police Station for further questioning.

This case is under investigation.
