Annual Walk to End Epilepsy at the Rose Bowl
November 6, 2016 @ 8:00 am - 12:00 pm
$25
November is Epilepsy Awareness Month. To raise awareness and fund research, care and treatment the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Los Angeles will host the Walk to End Epilepsy on November 6th at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena.
Approximately 5.1 Million people in the United States have had a diagnosis of epilepsy or a seizure disorder. With 150,000 new cases of epilepsy each year in the United States, 1 in 26 people will develop epilepsy in their lifetime. More people die of epilepsy than Breast Cancer. 1 in 10 people will have a seizure in their lifetime. 1 in 26 will develop epilepsy. It’s 2x as common as Parkinson’s, Cerebral Palsy, and Multiple Sclerosis combined. That’s a staggering number of people who are affected. The lack of awareness about this disease is surprising considering how prevalent it is.
All proceeds support programs including: the Epilepsy Helpline, Teen/Family Camps, the Big Brain Exhibit, Therapy Groups, Statewide Advocacy, Seizure First Aid and Seizure Recognition training for school/workplace/first responders, Research and Care+Cure initiatives to speed referral to epilepsy specialists
