Open House at Casa Del Mexicano
September 18 @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pmFree
Danza Floricanto/USA will host its joyful celebration of renewal and survival from the COVID-19 Pandemic on Saturday, September 18th from 1 to 5 pm. at its new location in the historic Casa Del Mexicano, the new home of The Floricanto Center for the Performing Arts, located at 2900 Calle Pedro Infante, Los Angeles, CA 90063.
The afternoon will consist of community, family and friends of Floricanto coming together to celebrate the resilience of the Arts in the community of Boyle Heights.
Additionally, because Casa Del Mexicano, once revered as the mecca of Mexican culture in Los Angeles, has not had consistent programming for over two decades, Floricanto will have a symbolic ribbon cutting ceremony as well as invite a broad spectrum of performers to help them welcome a new era for the Arts in this long forgotten corner of East Los Angeles.
Floricanto became Casa’s first tenant in May, 2020, right in the middle of the pandemic scourge. Because regular activities could not readily take place, Floricanto leadership switched from live rehearsals, classes and performances to on line/virtual services and the revamping the space to fit their artistic needs. Now, 16 months later, with the worst of the epidemic behind, both the company and the Center invite the community to join them in the celebration. Among the scheduled performers will be: Lilly Flor y Los Compas, Mariachi Mexicapan, Mexican actress Angelica Aragon, singer Nelson Teran, Cuicani , the Floricanto Institute, Danza Floricanto/USA, and as Master of Ceremonies, ABC Channel 7’s own Eric Resendiz.
All of Los Angeles is invited to celebrate this new era for Floricanto as well as the reopening of Casa Del Mexicano, the new home for Danza Floricanto/USA.
