Art Torres has been a Boyle Heights resident for 36 years. He joined the Boyle Heights Beat team as a contributing photographer in 2012. He is a son, brother, friend, husband and father who loves his community, family and photography.
Erik Sarni is a Boyle Heights native who has been covering this neighborhood since 1999. He is a graduate of Central High School in East Los Angeles and an alumni of East Los Angeles College, where he served on the staff of the campus newspaper. Currently, you can catch him capturing various community,sporting and entertainment events around the Los Angeles and the surrounding areas as a video producer and photographer.

Gus Ugalde is a print journalist and Boyle Heights native. He is a graduate of both Salesian High School and East Los Angeles College. With writing as his passion, he has had over 500 stories published at several publications throughout Southern California.
Maria Arredondo is a full-time working mom who always finds time to sit and have a meal with her family. Maria was born and raised in Boyle Heights where she recently bought a home. She lives with her boyfriend, two kids and her boyfriend’s sister, calls herself an “Accidental Foodie” and loves to write.
Tiffany Lam is a lifelong resident of Boyle Heights and attending Wellesley College near Boston, Massachusetts. Her ambitions include engaging with her community through writing and organizing.
Gene K. Dean is currently an English teacher at Roosevelt High School and adviser for The Roughrider newspaper. Referred to as weirdly, athletically nerdy, a voracious reader, a brick wall, and a dedicated teacher. Gene looks forward to essay grading, reading and keeping odd hours to promote social justice.
Victor Peña is a native and resident of Boyle Heights. He has more than eight years of healthcare experience working with healthcare organizations in Santa Barbara county and Los Angeles county. He is currently completing his Masters of Business Administration with an emphasis in Management and manages a department at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downtown Los Angeles.
Luz Montalvo is a Boyle Heights resident and college counselor at California State University, Los Angeles.
Greg Olmos is a Boyle Heights resident and retired teacher. He volunteers at San Antonio de Padua Church and Benjamin Franklin Library and writes as part of a library writing group.
Abe Flores is a Boyle Heights resident and Advocacy Field Manager for Arts for LA, an arts education advocacy organization, where he leads advocacy workshops to create networks of arts advocates in L.A. County.
Nataly Chavez is currently a film student at The Los Angeles Film School and does freelance entertainment writing for Campus Circle. She is has just finished writing her first short script which she will be directing and producing this August.
Dan Gudino was born in Boyle Heights and currently covers high school football and professional sports in Southern California.
