Ciclavia, the event that takes bike riders, skaters, roller bladders and pedestrians on a tour of Los Angeles’ streets– car free– returns to Boyle Heights this Sunday.

The Heart of LA route follows the organization’s first five events which first began in 2010. Participants will enjoy 7.5 miles of open streets with five hubs, or community stops, at MacArthur Park, Chinatown Plaza, Mariachi Plaza, the African American Museum, and Grand Park, where various activities will be held.

The Boyle Heights Farmer’s Market will host a day of events, while many of the nearby restaurants and shops will be open for business.

Past Ciclavia events have drawn about 100,000 people but organizers expect about 150,000 participants for Sunday’s free event, set to run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Four of the five hubs along the route are located at stops along the Metro Gold, Red, and Purple lines. For a full printable map and a list of activities, see the CicLAvia website at www.ciclavia.org.
