We’re on our third month of Capture It, our monthly, themed photo contest open to anyone who wants to share their photos with us through social media.
And our third winner has been designated”¦
We asked that you share a photo of your favorite Summer Days photographs by using the hashtag #BoyleHeightsBeatJune on Twitter and Instagram, or by sharing with us on Facebook.
After careful review of photos submitted, our youth reporters chose Instagram user @abelpix’s photo below:
@abelpix is also known as Abel Gutierrez, teacher and director of educational technology at Cathedral High School, who captures moments through his iPhone 5 or Canon 40D lens. This picture of the 6th Street bridge caught Abel’s eye as he was born and raised in Boyle Heights. He feels, “That bridge has such historic and cultural significance for Los Angeles but especially Boyle Heights. I understand that it will be gone soon and to be replaced by a new bridge. I try to capture the many features of that bridge as often as possible. Every time I shoot there, I find something new.”
Congratulations! Abel scored a BH Beat T-shirt and his photo will be featured on our website’s home page.
