Last month we launched Capture It, a monthly themed photo contest open to anyone who wants to share their photos with us through social media.

We asked that you share a photo of what a mother’s love means to you by using the hashtag #BoyleHeightsBeatApril on Twitter and Instagram, or by sharing with us on Facebook.

After careful review of photos submitted, our youth reporters chose Instagram user @lapaperboy’s photo below:

lapaperboy

@lapaperboy is also known as Kris Fortin, an avid cyclist, writer for LA.Streetsblog.org (his stories are occasionally republished on Boyle Heights Beat). His photo was taken on a visit to Mexico City with his mother, Margarita Fortin. “She never thought she would come to Mexico City, and especially with me. Glad it ended up this way,” wrote @lapaperboy on Instagram.

Congratulations! Kris scored a BH Beat T-shirt and his photo will be featured on our website’s home page.
