A Boyle Heights family is recovering from a fire that gutted their house on Christmas Eve morning. A fire erupted in their houses’ basement and the flames made their way throughout the structure with fire getting into the attic. Firefighters got to the burning building on Enchandia St. at 10 A.M. Sunday morning and were able to extinguish the fire in less than an hour. But the fire was so devastating that the Segura family was trying to figure out Sunday night what is left of their home that they could salvage, NBC 4 reports.

Homeowner Julio Cesar Segura was at work when the fire broke out. His father was the only one who was overtaken by smoke but he not seriously injured. The Los Angeles Fire Department reports that there were no other injuries. Segura told NBC 4 that he is just happy that his family is ok. The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
Neighbors have set up a GoFundMe account to help the family gather donations.
