Boyle Heights police station

A man was shot Tuesday in a drive-by shooting in Boyle Heights. City News Service reports that the shooter remains at large. The 33-year old man was walking in the 3100 block of Lanfranco Street at about 11:45p.m. when the shooter fired four times, hitting the victim once in the calf. The man was taken to the hospital. The gunshot is not expected to be life-threatening.

CNS reports there is no known motive and no word if the shooting was gang-related. The Los Angeles Police Department asks that anyone with information on the shooting call the LAPD’s Hollenbeck Division at (323) 342-4100.

Police have previously confirmed that there is an uptick in violent crime in the last few months in Boyle Heights.
