Iconic Boyle Heights burrito eatery, Al & Bea’s Mexican Food Restaurant celebrates 50 years of business on Saturday. Albert and Beatrice Carreon opened the restaurant on November 15th, 1966 and have built a dedicated customer base since. Albert and Beatrice started the business wanting to serve the community genuine Mexican food and their cuisine has been said to set a standard for Mexican fast food in the city.

Al & Bea’s bean and cheese burrito won best burrito in Los Angeles from FiveThirtyEight.com, who set out to find the best burrito in America in 2014. Al & Bea were beat out for the top honor by San Francisco’s La Taqueria in the end but the Boyle Heights restaurant beat out all other local burritos in the competition.

Al & Bea’s Mexican Food Restaurant will celebrate 50 years of business on Saturday with live Mariachi music and will offer their award winning bean and cheese burritos at a reduced price of two for $1 dollar. That offer is good for the first 250 customers.

Al & Bea’s Mexican Restaurant is located at 2025 E 1st St, Los Angeles.
