Stephanie Varela, Boyle Heights Beat art contributor and Roosevelt High School student, won first place in the 34th Congressional District Student Art Competition with her Mariachi Plaza-inspired painting.  Congressman Xavier Becerra (right) and Art in the Park held the 2013 Student Art Competition Ceremony at Plaza De La Raza last Wednesday titled “Los Angeles: What does your community look like?”
