Looking for a way to give back to the Boyle Heights community? 826LA is in need of volunteers for the coming school year.

826LA is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting students ages six to 18 with their creative and expository writing skills through after-school tutoring, evening and weekend workshops, in-school tutoring, help for English language learners, and assistance with student publications.

The organization is looking for Boyle Heights residents to volunteer at Roosevelt High School and Mendez Learning Center. If possible, they would like volunteers to be available to attend events at Garfield High School as well.

As a volunteer, you would work one-on-one with students in their classrooms by helping them write and edit stories and essays. After school volunteering opportunities are also available for those who work full-time.

To become a volunteer with 826LA you need to:

Ӣ Attend a Volunteering 101 session in Echo Park or Venice. Find an upcoming session here! Please RSVP for a Volunteering 101 session at iwanttohelp@826la.org or by calling 213-413-3388 (Echo Park) or 310-305-8418 (Venice)
