It is with great sadness that I share news of the passing of our dear and beloved friend, Becky Delgado. She passed away peacefully from ovarian cancer at 48 years old on January 7, 2012 at White Memorial Hospital in Boyle Heights. She is survived by her loving husband Victor Delgado, her sister Diana, younger brother Paul, and mother in law and Pillar of Boyle Heights, Lucy Delgado and many relatives and friends.
Becky was a lifelong resident of Boyle Heights. She graduated from Roosevelt High School and was the school mascot in 1982. Becky had the utmost integrity, humility, kindness and support, and was a very active community member in Boyle Heights. Her professional career was as an accountant. In her spare time Becky had a passion for flying kites with her husband. She devoted much of her time and energy to giving back to the community she loved.

Becky’s last volunteer work was as a committee member for “Boyle Heights: Images and Essays: 1850-1900″ an exhibit by the Boyle Heights Historical Society currently at Occidental College Library until the end of January. Becky will be greatly missed.
A group of us will be walking in honor of Becky at the upcoming 8th Annual Run for Her- Support Ovarian Cancer Research and Awareness sponsored by Cedars-Sinai Medical Center Sunday, November 11, 2012 at Pan Pacific Park (across from The Grove). Monica Harmon is a public safety advocate and community volunteer in Boyle Heights and the greater Los Angeles area. She knew Becky Delgado for eight years having worked with her on public safety issues, attending numerous events and meetings in Boyle Heights.
